At the end of the day, it's not about the promotion or pay. It's about the "people" we meet and those we can help along the way. I want to make detective someday but I'm not putting that goal ahead of my job.
It's "protect and serve" not "help yourself". I just want to do my job and be damn good at it. Most of the blokes on the force are too busy chasing a bigger paycheck than to give a damn.
[It is a very long time before Togusa can muster up a reply to that. Also, because it turns out he's having a second conversation about this very same subject. But, finally, he comes back.]
You're right. You're completely right.
I would appreciate it if you didn't bring this up to any of the guys. Anybody who does know about my involvement? Well, they just haven't been saying anything.
[Was it something he said?! Fynn is just has a boatload of idealistic optimism to fling around. He's kind of ridiculous like that, endearing but ridiculous as hell.]
My lips are sealed, Toga!
I got your back as long as you have mine. You know I'm one of the few "decent guys" around these days. Just make sure to keep Gabby out of my damn hair.
