[The way Fynn bounds up to him like an oversized dog almost makes him laugh. He’s pretty sure he was expecting this reaction, but that makes it no less amusing.]
You’re getting ahead of yourself, Fynn. I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.
[He places a hand on his shoulder, like trying to calm down a small child.]
But yes, I’m serious. I asked Grell to marry me. It was an unexpected development, but it happened all the same.

[He lets out a laugh in the face of Fynn's hug, which is rather tight and suffocating. But he returns the gesture, too glad himself to say anything snarky or witty.]
You didn't. You were just kidding.
[Though he will call him out on it.]
I bet you had no idea.
[Which... maybe he did, honestly. Too many times already have people said that they were eventually expecting this. It had surprised him.]

[Why is everyone in Recolle calling him old, recently? But Fynn gets a free pass, because this is certainly nothing new from a younger brother.]
It isn't so much growing old alone, it's just...
[Hm, well. He moves to the closest place to sit, likely on the couch. It seems like a better way of having this conversation.]
A lot's happened recently, Fynn. With Retrospec, with the city. You of course remember that awful month with all the monsters, don't you? Sometimes... one might wonder what the point of waiting any longer than necessary truly is.

[He responds with no hesitation.]
Certain? I've never been more certain about anything.
[He pauses, looking him over.]
I know it's unexpected, but it was to the both of us as well. But it feels right, and I can't imagine a future where she's not at my side.

Togusa bristles, his patience far shorter than normal right now. "What the hell else was I supposed to say? How else does a kid lose an arm in a damn afternoon!" He puts the coffee cup down and runs a hand through his hair in frustration as he takes a long breath out. But he does listen. Fynn's not the person to be angry at.
Togusa slowly looks at Fynn in curiosity, melting some of the helpless feeling at the whole situation. He is remembering something similar? "fal'Cie?" He tries to repeat the unfamiliar word. "Something like what your brother can do?" He is slowly piecing together the picture of the world that the two of them (presumably) come from.
But Fynn's last comment is unnerving. Like Togusa can't just take the credit for this. "It'll have been one of the few good things Retrospec's done," he mutters.

"I've got to trust that James can keep his father focused on him." It's the best that Togusa can do. The man is dealing with enough, Togusa has to hope that it's too much for him to continue to pursue this.
Togusa eyes Fynn producing a cigarette cautiously. Not his choice, but it's a sign that Togusa isn't the only one strained right now. "Humans aren't supposed to wield magic?" Togusa repeats. "Is that why Ardyn's abilities come with so much of a cost? Whatever happened to him, it wasn't supposed to." He shakes his head.
"It's-" Hmm. "I worry for Ardyn. And he's the exact kind of person to lose himself to those abilities. He cares. A lot. It's. Strange. He makes himself so much larger than life, almost into a caricature, but I know he does think highly of himself, and somehow cares for himself last at the exact same time." He glances at Fynn. "The more you two can learn, maybe you can help him before it's too late."

Fynn, I'm starting to think that you're more excited about this than I am.
[Again, he's only kidding, of course. But his younger brother's enthusiasm really is endearing, and he appreciates as a brother would.]
It is necessarily that either of us know the exact date yet?
