CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Captain Rygdea
AGE: Approximately 24
CANON: Final Fantasy XIII Compilation

CANON HISTORY: Here

CANON PERSONALITY: Depicted as a headstrong and opinionated individual, Captain Rygdea possesses a sense of loyalty to both himself and the Cavalry. As one of the few people who vehemently dislike the rhetoric spewed by the Sanctum, Rygdea almost took his leave of the armed forces upon finding out the truth regarding their operations. He was disgusted by what he saw; disgusted by both the bureaucracy and the deception that takes place within the government. Rygdea’s dislike for faux idealism is what personifies him mostly as a character, along with his passion to crush the theocracy. His hatred for Sanctum is what binds his loyalty to the Guardian Corps lead under General Cid Raines.

Rygdea isn’t shy in sharing his dislike for Sanctum or anyone for that matter. He's a mouthy bastard at time, too honest for his own good. While he may not look it, Rygdea is an accomplished individual worthy of the title of ‘Captain’ even if he comes across as laid-back and unrefined for the job. He is Raines’ loyal second-in-command, and he doesn’t take that title lightly. However, Rygdea does come across as the ‘lone cowboy’ because of both his actions and his demeanor. He’s a wild man, not the kind of guy who can be easily swayed by eloquent words. The captain is stubborn and slightly idealistic himself for he believes that Sanctum does nothing other than lie to its citizens for the sake keeping the public under control. He also comes across as brash and reckless, definitely the kind of man who leaps before he looks.

Rygdea allegedly joined the military not to show support for Sanctum but for the chance of flying an airship. He loves the sky and always wanted to fly free away from the conflicts below. His yearning for freedom led him to the military but the long her stated the more disillusioned he became. The vast corruption of the military forced Rygdea to open his eyes to a truth he was once unwilling to accept. He begun to detest the world he saw before him, and threatened to leave all of it behind for the sake of pursuing his own ideals. If it hadn’t been for Cid Raines, Rygdea wouldn’t have stayed. The two men bonded over their dislike for the military, bonded over their disgust for the brutal theocracy that rules Cocoon. His trust for Cid is what binds him to the Cavalry. He believes fully that Cid truly wishes to free humanity from the oppression of the fal’Cie. For too long, the government has used the public’s fear of the fal’Cie as a means of ruling over them. Rygdea honestly hopes to end this madness.

However, his loyalty to Cid does go above the call of duty. Even when it was believed that Cid betrayed the Cavalry to become the new Primarch, Rygdea willingly fulfilled Cid’s final wish. With hesitation, Rygdea killed Cid when the man begged him to do so, suggesting that perhaps Rygdea does possess a level of compassion despite his rocky demeanor.

Rygdea is laid-back and chill, the kind of person who doesn’t mind taking it easy and letting someone else handle the small stuff. He’s easy to talk to, not imposing at all and somewhat friendly. Rygdea knows how to carry a conversation, and if he’s interested in someone he’ll befriend them in time. This can be proved by just how he managed to befriend Fang well enough to willingly work with her for the sake of finding Vanille. While Rygdea is undoubtedly following Cid's orders, he does go out of his way to befriend Lightning and the others too.

While Rygdea is a rather relaxed an down to earth individual, he's also very impatient. The man doesn’t know that patience is a virtue and even if he did; he frankly wouldn’t give a damn. Rygdea’s impatience is a thing of beauty in all regards, especially since he’s well known for trying to smuggle a ship filled with I’Cie fugitives onto the Palamecia while screaming “Let me land this bird or I will crash it into your ass!”

His impatience is followed up by his obstinate nature. Rygdea comes across as a tad too stubborn for better or for worse. Once he makes his mind about something, he’s not going to stop until he gets the result he wants. This flaw can make him very unyielding and confrontational to most people. Rygdea’s passionate demeanor can lead to a negative outburst or two as seen in the game itself. This man doesn’t know what patience is, and he’s prone to getting mad very quickly if he doesn’t get his way. Rygdea unfortunately does have a bit of a temper.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Combat & Survival- As a soldier, Rygdea appears to be quite fit physically. He probably doesn’t excel in hand-to-hand combat, but he certainly knows how to use a gun. There is no proof stating how long Rygdea been in the military but it's assumed that he knows the fundamental basics necessary for survival. Rygdea is nowhere as proficient as let's say Lightning but he can hold his own against a barge of PSICOM Elites with just a ragtag team of Cavalry men in a firefight. In fact, Rygdea emerged from that battle with PSICOM virtually unscathed and lives to wrote the according to later installments.

  • Cool & Collected- Rygdea usually keeps his cool through tense situations and tends to be quite helpful towards others as long as it’s beneficial. While sometimes he shows too much zeal on his work, Rygdea does his best to lead his men into battle with as little causality as possible. He's a natural leader in his own right and feels a certain level of responsibility with his title as captain. If things go awry, he'll gladly take the blame and whatever punishment that follows.

  • Technology & Machinery - Rygdea has a strong fascination for technology thanks to his love for airships. He loves to tinker with things whether it be his own ship or a military vessel, Rygdea always finds something to do. He's capable of flying not only the Cavalry jets but also PSICOM carriers as illustrated in the story line when he flies a stolen carrier vessel right into the heart of the Palamecia. He's not exactly an ace polite bit he certainly better than most and has a great understanding for machinery.

    CHARACTER: AU SECTION
    AU NAME: Officer Fynn Izunia
    AU AGE: 24
    PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: N/A

    AU HISTORY:

  • Fynn Izunia is the youngest sibling of the Izunia Family. He's the 'little brother' to Ardyn Izunia and the source of migraines for the Recollé Police Department. The man is a walking disaster on the level of a level five hurricane but a 'good' kind of disaster. (**player permission obtained**)

  • His family comes from old money thanks to their shrewd investments in both the stock market and personal financial funds. Fynn's family is mostly comprised of politicians who transitioned from capitalistic money grubbing hogs to political figure heads with lofty prestige. Of course the family name still holds weight enough to provide Fynn the influence necessary to make it through the Police Academy.

  • Unlike his elder brother and sister, Fynn lacks some of the Izunia charm when it comes to politics and coercion. He's not very charming and he's a bit too gruff for politics. Fynn honestly was more interested into going into "law" but not as a lawyer like Ardyn did but as law enforcement.

  • Fynn finished the Police Academy with promising scores and is about to complete his third year as a beat cop. It's his dream to someday make 'detective'. He takes his career in law enforcement quite seriously despite his flippant manners on the force. He knows all the ins and outs of standard police procedures and memorized the code of ethics and regulations. However, this brilliant bastard sometimes doesn't follow said ethics. He's a problematic fellow sometimes. Quick on the draw but even faster to mouth off.

  • Fynn is something of an inspiring marksmen. He's quite good on the firing range and has an eye for details. On occasion Fynn likes to join the annual police marksmanship competition on the behalf of the Recollé Police Department. He won silver twice in a row.

  • He's quite aware of Ardyn's feud with the parents and honestly takes his side in the matter while seemingly remaining neutral. He really wishes that the family would just move past their quarrels but knows that neither side is willing to budge. Fynn often acts as like something of a mediator between Ardyn and their parents.

  • While Ardyn's relationship with their parents is quite strained, Fynn's relationship with them is fairly decent here and there. The parents were less stringent on Fynn unlike Ardyn. Ardyn was always the poster child of the family, not Fynn. In some strange way, this worked out in Fynn's benefit since it allowed him to follow his dreams and join law enforcement rather than become another political lackey.

    AU PERSONALITY:

  • Rygdea's overall personality remains the same minus a few new quirks he has now as "Officer Fynn Izunia". One such new quirk is the fact that he's constantly trying to either annoy his brother Ardyn to high holy hell or win the man's affections. He honestly likes spending time with his brother despite how much they bicker sometimes. It reminds Fynn of simpler times before the bad blood brewed within their family. He's constantly trying to prove to Ardyn that "family" is best and wants to make up for all the bad situations that happened in the past.

  • Instead of being utterly fascinated with airships and jets, Rygdea is utterly enamored with automobiles instead. He's likes tinkering with classic muscle cars like the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss or the 1967 Pontiac GTO on his downtime. He knows too much about cars for his own good and even owns a 2017 Nissan GT-R which he actually spent more than half his savings on just for the bragging rites. His car obsession is a bit of a problem on the financial level.

  • Rygdea is more impudent than ever before as an Izunia. He's a tad cheekier and more brazen than before since he's no longer hailing from a military background. With the code and ethics of the Cavalry swapped out for the RPD, Rygdea definitely isn't 'Captain' material this time around. He's in his "young rookie" stage at best with rare glimmers of his militaristic self shining every once and while.

  • Still good with firearms, Rygdea can dismantle your ordinary 9mm. Pistol in under two minutes. He's constantly upgrading and fixing his guns personally since he doesn't trust other people to do the job for him. It's like his own special brand of therapy to help combat the boredom of his daily life.

  • He's a bit of a flirt this time around but not to the extent that he can't take 'No' for an answer. Rygdea likes teasing people with his sometimes unfunny sense of humor. He'll blatantly flirt with his superiors and colleagues alike until they tell him to knock it off. His flirtatious nature is all because of his need for attention. The Izunias relish being the center of attention and he's no different in this regard.

  • Rygdea has a strong sense of justice and will stop at nothing to see it served. While the young man can be a bit of a menace at times, Rygdea does at least go by his own code of ethics. He might gripe about being on the police force but he'll lay down his life for any of his brothers in arms at the drop of a hat. There's a certain level of selflessness that Rygdea has when it comes down to the force. He might not like working on paperwork but he'll put in extra hours to assist a colleague despite if he likes them or not.

  • There's a hint of sibling rivalry between Ardyn and Fynn that's completely one-sided on Fynn's part. It's a friendly competition that sometimes borderlines on downright madness. He honestly likes his brother and constantly wants to prove his worth.
